New Year Comedy Night 2024 produces most hilarious edition ever

The hundreds of patrons who turned up for this year’s edition of the New Year Comedy Night were not just thrilled but experienced unparalleled authentic hilarity like never before in the five-year journey of the show.

The show which rather started a bit late due to some technical challenges with sound at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, soon turned out to be an experience those who have regularly patronized the show for the past five editions wouldn’t forget in a long time.

The organisers of the event, Ecstacy Entertainment, renowned for curating top-notch comedy events that cater to diverse humour preferences ensured an atmosphere electrified forcomedy enthusiasts and newcomers alike who gathered to kick-start their new year with an evening of laughter and entertainment.

The New Year Comedy Night has always aimed at providing the audience an opportunity to kick off the new year with endless laughter as a therapy to start the year in a sound mind and get over their stress. It has become an annual tradition for comedy enthusiasts and party-goers alike.

One of the patrons, a Fashion Designer and CEO of Stitched by Wenia, Selina Cyprian Williams, said: “It’s the perfect way to bid farewell to the previous year and welcome the upcoming one with a burst of laughter.

The highly-anticipated event featured an exceptional lineup of talented comedians who delivered side-splitting performances, leaving the audience thrilled and craving for more. The performances surpassed all expectations, boasting an extraordinary hope for the future of the country’s comedy industry.

The likes of Comedian Waris, Jeneral Ntatia, MJ, Lekzy, Parrot Mouth, and Uncle Sam among others captured the platform to register their brands in the hearts of the hundreds from both diaspora and the country.

With each act, the comedians skillfully navigated punchlines, anecdotes, and witty observations, effortlessly connecting with the audience. Contagious energy filled the venue as peals of laughter echoed throughout the night, balancing the stress and challenges of the previous year with pure joy and mirth.

Abdul Waris Umaru, known as Comedian Waris, left the audience in uproarious laughter and high spirits when he took his turn making it a night to remember. Jokes such as Ghanaians getting so interested in Zodiac signs lately and his encounter with a Kumasi girl who said her sign is Adinkra as well as a Ga girl who mentioned Odododiodio, had the audience rolling in the aisles.

He topped it up with: “At a poor man’s party, the organisers are always screaming and warning children not to touch anything before breaking glasses whilst rich people’s party is free for all.

He ended it with a pregnant woman who was always using a vibrator and gave birth to a child who was always vibrating when talking.

Jeneral Ntatia, brought uproarious laughter with his impeccable timing and relatable humor, cementing his reputation as one of the industry’s leading acts.

Ghana-based Nigerian comedian Parrot Mouth, caused a lot of commotion with his electrifying entry when he asked the audience to turn left/right and greet their neighbours and the person they are looking good if they are and ‘yawaa’ if otherwise.

Several other jokes including Accra rent wahala involving both agents and landlords alike cracked several ribs. Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan who was present was not spared at all as he received some jabs from the parrot’s mouth.

Popularly referred to as the Headmaster of Gh comedy, DKB, known for pushing boundaries and tackling taboo subjects with grace and humor, acting as the master of ceremony and delivering several remarkable punchlines in between performances managing to creatively keep the crowd in stitches.

The likes of Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia, President Nana Addo, Chief of Staff, Frema Osei-Opare, and the Flagbearer of NDC, John Dramani Mahama, were all given their share of slags.

MJ the Comedian, renowned for his quick wit and relatable storytelling, took the opportunity to gather applause for the Afua Asantewaa, who got into the Guinness Book of Records with her singathon initiative.

Comedy sensational, OB Amponsah, did not disappoint at allgiving the audience a doubled dose of laughter, leaving them gasping for breath.

In all, the comedians exhibited immense talent and had the audience rolling in the aisles with their unique comedic styles.
