The staff and management of Risk Management and Advisory Services Limited have extended a helping hand to victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage during a visit to the three districts affected by the spillage.

The visit which was focused on the Anloga, Keta, and Ketu South Districts, was in response to the call for corporate bodies to rally their support to alleviate the devastating aftermath of the spillage on victims.

At a brief ceremony that occurred on November 7, the team, led by the Managing Director, Larry Kwesi Jiagge, made a donation of relief items to victims of the flood.

Items donated included 300 bags of sachet water, 300 mats, 90 gallons of liquid soap, 300 buckets and 90 pails.

In attendance at the brief ceremony were, W. Seade, the Assemblyman for Anyako Konu, who represented the MP for Keta, a representative of the Member of Parliament for Anloga, and the staff of the company.

During his presentation, Mr. Jiagge mentioned that the lagoon has always been a crucial place for storing and releasing water during floods caused by water overflow from the Volta River.

“The lagoon is historically one of the last points of storage and discharge of water for any flood anytime there is spillage of water from the Volta”.

Again, he noted that the recent overflow had a significant impact on the water level of the lagoon, resulting in severe flooding of numerous communities nearby. Therefore, this donation forms part of the company’s small gesture to provide relief to some of the affected individuals, particularly those residing in the northern areas of the lagoon.

“The effect of the latest spillage saw a dramatic rise in the level of water level of the lagoon, leading to massive flooding of the large number of communities surrounding the lagoon.

“The donation is therefore a token to help alleviate the sufferings of some of the people especially those living northwards of the lagoon,” he said

At the receiving end of the gesture, the Member of Parliament for Ketu South, Dzifa Gomashie, accepted the donation on behalf of the political leadership of the three affected Districts.

She expressed profound gratitude to the leadership of Risk Management and Advisory Services for contributing to a good cause and expressed hope that more people will come on board to support the displaced victims as they grapple to recover from the huge losses.
