Tampico – in a fierce competition – beat Vitamilk Soymilk, Adonko 2 Fingers, Coca Cola, Verna Natural Purified Water and Voltic Natural Mineral Water in the most coveted Product of the Year category to carry the night away. Other beverage brands awarded on the night included Adonko Bitters, Smirnoff Ice, Mensdo Bissap, among others.

Receiving the award, Marketing Manager of Acadia Industries Limited, Bernard Offei, expressed gratitude to the organisers and the GBA Committee for recognising their hard work for the year under review. He lauded consumers for their loyalty and their confidence in the product while dedicating the award to the staff of Acadia Industries Limited for their tireless efforts in the promotion of the product.

“It is truly a great honour to receive this award. We are excited about this achievement. On behalf of the management of Acadia Industries Limited, I say thank you to all whose contribution have made this possible, including the organisers and the esteemed Awards Committee. This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire team at Acadia Industries Limited as well as our commitment to producing high-quality and innovative beverages.

“Our success would not be possible without the support of our customers who have shown us time and again that they appreciate the quality and flavour of our beverages and have gone further to show solidarity by casting votes in our favour during the voting phase. We are proud to have been able to serve the people of Ghana with our products, and we will continue to strive to meet their ever-evolving tastes and preferences.

He added that: “At Acadia Industries Limited, we understand that the beverage industry is constantly evolving, and we are committed to staying at the forefront of these changes. We assure our patrons that we will continuously work to improve our products to ensure that they are not only delicious, but also healthy and environmentally friendly.”

On his part, Chief Executive Officer for Global Media Alliance, Ernest Boateng, congratulated Acadia Industries Limited for grabbing the top-most award while lauding all stakeholders for supporting the awards scheme.

“Permit me to congratulate Acadia Industries Limited for emerging winners of the Product of the Year Award. As organisers, we would always be grateful to our stakeholders whose support makes it possible for us to reward excellence in our beverage industry. GBA has come a long way and has grown in terms of the number of categories, patronage, among others, which are as a result of feedback from our stakeholders.

“The successes chalked over the years could not have been possible without the support of our stakeholders and industry players whose participation and interest in seeing that GBA grows to the level where it will be widely known locally, in the sub-region and internationally knows no boundaries.”

Since inception, GBA has been crucial in highlighting the local beverage industry, promoting both domestic and foreign products, and encouraging small-scale beverage businesses in Ghana to participate. It has remained a force to reckon with through its contribution to ensuring that beverage-manufacturing companies are compliant with the highest standards of practice in the production and delivery of their products.

Mr. Boateng, commended the beverage industry for their contribution to national development while re-iterating the scheme’s commitment to supporting the industry.

“The beverage industry is a key driver in the development and sustenance of the nation’s economy. It is a huge revenue-generating industry which supports the country in employment creation, service delivery, and more. Cognisant of this fact, it is always our delight to provide an avenue as this which gives room for interaction and networking among stakeholders of Ghana’s beverage industry while at the same time providing the opportunity for industry players to share ideas relevant for the growth of their industry,” he said.

He congratulated all the winners of the various categories, describing each win as “well-deserved and one that brings the scheme closer to its vision of helping grow our local beverage brands; and subsequently, widening their footprint on the international market.

Taking his turn, Executive Director of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Mr. Kwabena Agyekum, noted that the interventions of marketing practitioners have over the years contributed significantly to the growth and expansion of the beverage industry, while calling for concerted efforts from corporate organisations for a sustained drive of innovation and creativity among beverage industry players.

“Recognising the critical role of the beverage industry in the nation’s development, marketing practitioners have always led advocacies for the industry and worked with government and relevant stakeholders to create an enabling environment for the industry to thrive. These interventions have helped to expand and boost the capacity of players in the industry, leading to the sector’s expansion, as well as a healthy competition among industry players.

Support from corporate organisations, including this prestigious awards scheme has contributed significantly to driving innovation and creativity among players in the industry, thereby contributing to the successes of the beverage industry. However, it is crucial for more corporate organisations to throw their weight behind the industry for sustained efforts and greater achievements.”

GBA is organised under the theme ‘Inspiring Excellence in Ghana’s Beverage Industry’. In a lead up, nominations were opened to allow the public and beverage companies to nominate their favourite beverage brands. Closure of the nominations ushered organisers into the voting phase which allowed the public to vote for their favourite brand in the Product of the Year Category. This year’s edition of the GBA witnessed fierce competition at the voting stages, with a 20 percent increase in voter turnout compared to the previous edition.
