Michael Asiedu wins Achiever in Hospitality Award at the Forty under 40 Awards

Michael Asiedu, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Rebirth Travel and Tours in Takoradi has won the Achiever in Hospitality award in this year’s Forty under 40 awards held last at Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel.

The Forty under 40 award is an initiative of Xodus Communications Limited, which seeks to identify, honour and celebrate a cross-section of the country’s most Influential and accomplished young business leaders under the age of 40 from a wide range of industries.

The award, also aims to put spotlight on these young achievers not only to celebrate them but also build a strong platform for them by giving them voice to motivate the next generation of industry pacesetters while building a positive attitude in youth to strive for excellence at a tender age.

Michael Asiedu, receiving his award urged the youth to stay focused and not to give up on their dreams. Rebirth Travel and Tours has embarked on International and Domestic Tours such as Eastern Adventure, Cape Coast Tours, Nzulezu, Kumasi and Lake Bosomtwe Tour, Volta Experience, Expatriates Tour, December Family Tour among others.

Richard Abbey Jnr, Events Director of Xodus Communications, explained that the awards received 308 entries from various parts of the country and industries. He said the entries were screened by the technical committee and later submitted to the Awarding Board which is chaired by Professor David Atta Peters.

The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Mark Okraku Mantey, encouraged young entrepreneurs to take advantage of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement which creates a single continental market for the trading of goods and services.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Yussif, noted that Africa is the fastest growing youthful population in the world. “The continent’s greatest resources are not the natural resources such as gold and oil but the energetic and determined youth. He commended organizers was such an initiative which has been sustained for the fifth time. Entrepreneurship is the most critical element of economic empowerment and job creation and I commend the organizers for putting together such an awards event to celebrate young entrepreneurs,” he stated.

The awards night was filled with pump and circumstances, with exciting performances from DBlack and ‘echoke hitmaker, Sefa.

The Founder and CEO of Websoft Solutions, BigGodwin Martey, walked away with the ‘First among Equals’ award which was the ultimate award on the night. Other awardees include Rebecca Acheampong, popularly known as ‘Becca’, won the Achiever in Music and Entertainment award, with Deloris Frimpong Manso, winning the Journalism (Radio & TV) category.
