The fifth edition of the Africa Makeup & Beauty (AMB) Fair and the Ghana Beauty Awards (GBA) formerly the Ghana Makeup Awards are set to come off next month.
The Africa Makeup & Beauty (AMB) Fair comes off on Wednesday and Thursday, November 17-18, 2021, at the Dome, Accra International Conference Centre and the Awards Night is slated for Saturday, November 20, 2021 at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, Accra.
The beauty industry in Ghana today is worth about US$6 million (according to the Euro Monitor). The industry employs well over 1 million Ghanaians most of which are young people and women. Makeup Ghana’s research indicates that the industry is growing and shows promise as a major employer in the coming years. It is these gains that we at Makeup Ghana wish to sustain and consolidate by initiating and sponsoring worthwhile industry projects.
Over past five years, these are the list of achievements by Makeup Ghana; a TVET Curriculum in Makeup Artistry under the National Training and Vocational. Qualifications Framework (NTVQF) in partnership with Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (COTVET); the development of an Industry Profile which provides an overview of the investment profile of the industry and assesses the potential for growth in revenue to Government from the sector; funding support from the then Business Development Ministry and NBSSI for some of the businesses to scale up and during the COVID-19 crisis
These two annual events are promising an enthralling experience not only because of the anniversary celebration of the beauty industry advocate; Makeup Ghana, but also due to their partnership with one of the respected brands in the industry, First Choice Hair and Beauty.
Makeup Ghana intends to open up the awards to encompass all aspects of beauty hence the change in name and they are dedicating this anniversary to celebrate Beauty Brands and Businesses. It was a welcome idea when the First Choice Team engaged Makeup Ghana to jointly hold the AMB Fair and the GBA together.
The Ghana Beauty Awards (GBA) is an annual celebration for the Beauty Industry, aimed at fostering excellence, by rewarding and celebrating pioneers, leading professionals and upcoming talent within the industry, as well as businesses and brands who are contributing to economic growth. It is the first of its kind to reward trailblazers and budding talent in the Beauty Industry in Ghana.
In broadening the scope of the awards to include all sectors in the beauty space, the following categories have been added;
- Most Promising Barber (new category)
This category seeks to celebrate an emerging men’s hair and barbering expert who has demonstrated creativity and innovation.
- Most Promising Nail Technician (new category)
This category seeks to celebrate an emerging nail specialist who has demonstrated a high level of art and skill in nail techniques.
- Beauty Brand Ambassador of the Year
This category seeks to reward the most influential personality promoting a beauty brand effectively.
- Student/Apprentice of the Year
This category seeks to reward an exceptional learner who has demonstrated discipline and diligence in the learning center.
- Best Hair Colourist
This category seeks to reward the most versatile and dynamic hair colorist.
- Barber of the Year
This category seeks to reward a top-notch men’s hair and barbering expert who has demonstrated creativity and innovation.
- People’s Choice Award
This category seeks to reward a beauty brand or an individual that has become a household name.
- Best Hair Cutting Stylist (new category)
This category seeks to reward the most versatile and dynamic hair cutting stylist.
- Best Salon/Studio
This seeks to celebrate the best salon or makeup studio in the country that demonstrates top-notch service and ‘stands-out’ in all area of salon or studio business.
- Best Spa and Wellness Centre
This seeks to celebrate the best spa and wellness centers in the country that demonstrates top-notch service and ‘stand-out’ in all area of spa and wellness business.
- Best Customer Service Experience
This category celebrates to find the beauty brand with quality and professional finest customer service.
Scheduled activities at the fair include exhibitions & discount sales, beauty business forums, workshops and seminars, beauty shows, Live Demos, trim avenue and live demos. Showcase your brand or products to over 3,500 attendees, including policymakers, celebrities and influencers. With a total of 30 Categories this year, the call for Nominations for the Awards has commenced and beauty professionals, businesses and emerging talents are encouraged to partake in this life changing experience.
