Tang Palace Hotel has been honored by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) for its outstanding performance for the year 2019 under review.
This year’s GTA Greater Accra Regional Awards which was marked under the theme: Growing Tourism beyond the return, the Tang Palace Hotel was adjudged 4-Star hotel of the year 2019.
This makes it 3 times the hotel has won this award just over 5 years of its operation; it has consecutively won it in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
The citation accompanying this year’s award paid glowing tribute to the Tang Palace hotel as renowned for its Ultra-Modern facilities, Excellent Hospitality and unparalleled customer services provided by impeccable groomed Professional Staff, has resulted in the hotel winning for the third consecutive time the 4-Star hotel of the year award in the Greater Accra Region.
“The award is in recognition of efforts made over the years to strive to maintain quality standards thereby exceeding the expectations of your numerous guests”. The citation added.
Mr. Charles Obeng, Greater Accra Regional Manager-GTA, accompanied by some Executives of the Authority was present at the hotel’s premises to hand over the award which was received on behalf of the facility by the General Manager, Mr. Sajid Khan.
In an interview with the media, Mr. Charles Obeng, mentioned that this year’s Regional GTA award was marked with no special ceremony due to the Covid-19 pandemic as such” we are here at the premises of one of the top winners to hand over their award. As you are aware, the essence of annually recognizing the efforts of the tourism players is to spur competitive rivalry for them to strive to do things well”.
He commended the Tang Palace Hotel for winning the award for 3 years in a row and urged other players to take a cue and strive hard for excellence because as “regulators the moment we give an award it tells the whole world that we can vouch for the excellence they are seeing here and that customers can be rest assured that they are safe in using their facility”.
The General Manager of the hotel, Mr. Sajid Khan who received the award on the hotel’s behalf commended the Authority for continually acknowledging hard work in the industry and assured on behalf of the hotel to safeguard and maintain the high service standards to promote the tourism industry.
Tang Palace Hotel, he informed has already opened for business but was quick to add that all safety protocols with regards to the Covid-19 are in place and being enforced by staff as such customers/clients are expected to abide by it and stay safe. “Our slogan ‘Your safety is our priority’” emphasizes the safety of our clients is our topmost priority”.
Mr. Khan dedicated the awards to the hotel’s staff, clients/partners touting that, to be the only hotel in Greater Accra that has won this award for 3 consecutive times it means history has been made and it was made together with these key stakeholders”.

The Ghana Tourism Awards was instituted by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in 1997 to reward excellent performance in the tourism sector. It is one of the flagship events of the GTA held annually and it sets the tone for high standards in service delivery among practitioners in the tourism sector.
