Fan Milk PLC, under the Danone Group, has collaborated with the Ghana Education Service (GES) to launch its flagship education-focused Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project – the School Caravan campaign, 2021 edition.

Unlike previous editions, the objective for this year’s School Caravan has been revised to include COVID-19 education/sensitise, sanitation and healthy living among others.

Speaking at the launch, Managing Director-Fan Milk Plc, Ziobeieton Yeo, indicated that the programme’s scope has been expanded to go beyond Accra and cover nationwide – with the target to impact about 100,000 basic schoolchildren from a selected 180 schools in all the regions.

“This initiative is at the heart of what we do, which is to improve the nation’s health by making nutritious products available to as many as possible. With this project, we wish to say ‘thank you’ to teachers who have been responsible for the safety of children when they are in school,” he said.

On the COVID-19 pandemic sensitisation aspect, the School Caravan seeks to drive the importance of handwashing, wearing face masks and regular hand-sanitising against spread of coronavirus, as well as education on healthy snacking in order to boost the immune system.

The School Caravan also aims at educating pupils on the positive effects of environmental consciousness through its ‘Wrapper Collection promo’. In this promotion, participating schoolchildren are encouraged to properly dispose of Fan Milk product wrappers, and indeed other plastic packaging, in designated wrapper collection bins provided by Fan Milk across the nation.

Wrappers collected are sent to the Pick-It sorting centre at Tema Newtown to be processed for recycling.

Since inception of the FanChoco School Caravan in 2018, FanMilk has reached over 500,000 pupils in 180,000 schools across Accra, Tema and Kumasi. The company is committed to extending the School Caravan and related educational activities to other regions in this year’s edition.

The Headmistress of La Bethel Presby Primary and Junior High School, Grace Tetteh, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Fan Milk for kind its gesture to her school. She is optimistic that the support, especially the products provided, will help meet and improve the nutritional intake of the children.
