The 2000-year batch of Prempeh College alumni, popularly known as “Millenium Amanfoo”, has officially launched its 25th anniversary legacy project, unveiling a series of activities to commemorate the milestone.

According to the leadership of the group, the project estimated to cost US$100,000 involves an extension of the popular Canopy Walkway to link two newly built houses to key facilities in the school.

Global President of Millennium Amanfoo, Roland Kwadwo Akomeah, when delivering a remark at the anniversary launch at Prempeh College, Kumasi, revealed that the project was selected in collaboration with school authorities.

“For our Millennium Amanfoo 25th Anniversary project, we have decided to extend the Canopy Walkway to the last two houses — Arthur Clarke and Matthew Opoku Prempeh Houses. The walkway connects the school’s main facilities, including the Administration Block, Osae Assembly Hall, Main Classroom Block, Laboratories, Science Resource Center, Houses, and Dining Hall. It enables students and staff to safely access these key areas, regardless of adverse weather conditions,” Mr. Akomeah explained.

Chairman, Events Planning Committee and Vice President of the Southern Millennium Amanfoo group, René Buer Plahar, further outlined activities scheduled for the anniversary celebrations. He also emphasised the importance of the legacy project.

“This iconic feature, unique to Prempeh College, has become the focus of our legacy project and the crown of our 25th anniversary celebration. We are proud to revive, renovate, and extend it, ensuring that current and future generations of students enjoy its benefits,” Mr. Plahar said.

The theme for the anniversary, “Rooted in “Suban”, Blooming with “Nimdeɛ”: Celebrating 25 Years of Millennium Amanfoo Excellence”, according to Mr. Plahar, pays tribute to the school’s foundational training, the excellence alumni have achieved in their respective fields, and the cherished school values.

The anniversary activities are expected to kick off on Friday, December 5, 2025, with a Homecoming event, followed by a panel discussion on a topic of national interest.

The refurbished Canopy Walkway will then be unveiled and handed over, alongside interactive sessions with students.

On Saturday morning, December 6, Millennium Amanfoo will face off against the Opoku Ware School (OWASS) “Akatakyie” 2000 Year Group in a football match. The day’s events will also feature health screenings and a durbar of “Amanfoo” chiefs, culminating in a black-tie anniversary dinner in the evening.

On Sunday, December 7, 2025, Millennium Amanfoo will gather at the J.A. Kufuor Auditorium on the school premises for an all-white thanksgiving service.

Other highlights of the anniversary would include a mentorship program for 25 selected students and the publication of a commemorative brochure.

Former Senior School Prefect, Sylvester Owusu, in a speech, expressed his excitement about returning to his alma mater to give back to the institution that shaped his and many others’ life.

“Looking back at our days from 1998 to 2000, we witnessed remarkable growth, countless achievements, and the inspiring spirit of the green shirt. From the dedicated teachers who nurtured our young minds to the supportive parents and students who embodied our school’s values, Millennium Amanfoo is a testament to the power of Prempeh College. These past 25 years have been a legacy of pride and grace,” he said.

The occasion was graced by special guests Otumfuo Assinhene of Sepaase, Nana Yaw Akuoko, and Otumfuo Nnibihene, Nana Kwakye Abamono Ababio, — both members of Millennium Amanfoo who pledged their support for the legacy project.

A mini-fundraiser was also held during the launch.
