GCB Bank held a special thanksgiving service over the weekend in Accra to round off its 70th anniversary celebrations.
The spectacular event was to express the bank’s gratitude to God, even in the midst of challenges. It was under the theme ‘Thanking God for 70 years of providing unrivalled financial solutions to the socio-economic development of Ghana’.
Clad in the anniversary cloth and filled with the spirit of gratitude, the bank’s staff danced and praised the Creator for his divine providence and grace for keeping it alive and thriving in the course of the seven decades.
“Gratitude in the face of sacrifice is the purest measure of a heart that understands the depth of its blessings,” the Managing Director of GCB Bank, Kofi Adomakoh, said while delivering his keynote address at the event. “It is easy to be grateful when times are good, but true gratitude shines brightest in moments of adversity. These sacrifices, whether personal or collective, have shaped our bank into the institution it is today. They have taught us the values of perseverance, unity and faith.”
He admitted that the past seven decades has been marked by significant achievements and challenges; but said through these experiences the bank has grown, learned and emerged stronger. He added that GCB’s history is a testament to the dedication, resilience and commitment of it staff, the trust of its customers and the guidance of its leaders and regulators.
Furthermore, he said: “Our journey has not always been smooth but it is in moments of difficulties and uncertainty that we have seen the most profound growth and development. Our resilience has forged our character and strengthened our resolve to serve our customers, communities and our country, Ghana, with integrity and excellence”.
He also assured of the bank’s commitment to ensuring that the country takes takes advantage of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and does not miss out on its 1.5 billion single market. He added that GCB will continue to invest in developing talents and providing its customers with growth opportunities while supporting Ghanaian businesses to thrive and even explore beyond the shores of the country.
The thanksgiving service’s sermon was delivered by Rev. Eastwood Anaba, founder of the Eastwood Anaba Ministries (EAM) and the prayer session was handled by the Most Rev. Dr. Paul Kwabena Boafo, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana.
