Evening shadows fell at the dusky darkness
Trees dressed in darkened shadows
Birds chirped, but no more in bird songs
The sun deserted a duty post
And the moon turned up for nocturnal postings
The stars sparkled to
startle the evening
The leaves danced to the tune of the evening breeze
The branches strummed a rhythm for the wheezing breeze
And the evening strayed into a lingering darkening
A gazing peer at the slipping moon
A listening ear to the rhythm of the heart
A yearning desire for the heavenly touch of your embrace
And suddenly…our fingers slipped through
And locked
A yearning nurtured to reach the skies
High into the skies
Where birds learn to fly above the blue
The blue made for the clouds to flip
Like sweet kisses made for lips to sip
And the evening winked at the clicking lips
A long reach for the flowers
For hearts to fill with a bouquet of roses
For hands to clasp on a bundle of daffodils
Flowers made for bees to lick
Bees made to lick the flowers
Flowers made for lovers to pick
For lovers to stick, always to be
And the evening just hung and hovered
A long stretch to hold a hand to a tree
To a dancing tree
Trees made for birds to rest their wings
Wings meant for birds to fly high
Birds meant to fly against the wind
And the evening suddenly flew by in a single swing
And you slipped into me
You and I
We were made for the evening to love
II
The evening shadows
An evening of shivers
And of quivers
Shadows of quivers
Quivers to make two hearts shiver
And whisper
Whispers to quicken the hands to quiver
And suddenly…our fingers slipped through
And locked
An evening of jitters
Jitters to make the eyes glitter
An evening to flatter
Flattery to fall on a platter of caresses
When our fingers slipped through
And locked
And the evening looked away in ecstasy
And we stuck to the side of love
You and I
We were made for the evening to love
For love to smile in the shadows of the evening.
