Arla Foods, producer of Dano Milk, has donated Dona Milk products worth GH¢52,000 to the Paediatric Unit of 37 Military Hospita in Accra.
The donation was in recognition of this year’s World Food Day, dubbed ‘Celebrating the vital role dairy plays in delivering quality nutrition to nourish the world’.
Speaking to journalists, Head of Marketing-Arla Foods, Wilson Agbeko, highlighted the importance of milk consumption, especially by children – saying that it helps boost the immune system.
“Milk is a nutrient-dense product, which contains protein and calcium that takes care of the muscles and general wellbeing of persons. It also contains other nutrition such as Vitamins A and B which also help in boosting the immune system.”
He further advised that even though we are in hard times, there is a need to prioritise one’s health above everything; and asserted that Arla Foods remains committed to producing high-quality milk products.
Receiving the donation, Ag Head of Department-Paediatric Unit, Dr. Sheila Asamoah-Okyere expressed gratitude to Arla Foods on behalf of 37 Military Hospital and also highlighted the importance of milk in our diets.
“I can state for a fact that milk is an essential nutrition that a child needs to have in his or her daily life, therefore we the at 37 military Hospital appreciate this kind gesture extended to us.”
World Milk Day was established in 2001 by the United Nations (UN) Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO). It is celebrated globally every year on June 1 to recognise the importance of milk in global nutrition.
