The journey to GMA

As I reflect on my journey from the University of Cape Coast (UCC) to my current role as a Digital Accounts Manager at Global Media Alliance (GMA), it’s amazing how time flies. November 2021, when I stepped into this role, feels like just yesterday. But in that time, I’ve had incredible opportunities for growth and empowerment, both personally and professionally.

Transitioning from university to the workforce was an exciting yet challenging experience. I was fortunate to join Global Media Alliance on a full-time basis after completing my National Service. In my role as a Digital Accounts Manager, I am responsible for managing the social media presence of our clients and crafting digital campaigns and strategies to amplify their brand presence online.

My current role

But beyond my day-to-day responsibilities, I’ve been honoured to contribute to initiatives that promote women empowerment and representation. I’ve had the privilege of sitting on committees such as the Ghana Beverage Awards Committee and the African Legends Night, and I’ve been involved in successful campaigns like the Ghana Digital Innovation Week in 2022. These experiences have not only allowed me to grow professionally but also to make a meaningful impact, highlighting Global Media Alliance’s commitment in empowering women in our industry.

Diversity & inclusion at GMA

At Global Media Alliance, women empowerment is more than just a buzzword; it’s ingrained in our culture. We have remarkable women leaders such as Emma Wenani, our Chief Director, who exemplify leadership and inspire others to reach their full potential. Fafa Gbeho and Vida Osei Bonsu, in their roles in HR, ensure that our workplace is inclusive and supportive of all employees. And with Fati Shaibu-Ali leading our e.Academy, we’re empowering the next generation of digital and media leaders.

Diversity is another cornerstone of our organization. At Global Media Alliance, there’s no room for discrimination. We have representation from all over Ghana, bringing together diverse perspectives and experiences that enrich our work environment.

For inclusion, it is not just a goal; it’s a reality at Global Media Alliance. I’m proud to be part of a team where decision-making is inclusive, and my voice is valued. As a member of the Digital department, I’m respected and counted as a valuable contributor to our team’s success.

International Women’s Day

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, I am grateful for the opportunities I’ve had and the incredible women I’ve had the privilege to work alongside at Global Media Alliance. Together, we’re breaking barriers, challenging stereotypes, and paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable workplace. Happy International Women’s Day to all the inspiring women out there!
