Traditional Greek salad, often called ‘Horiatiki’ in Greece, is a refreshing and delicious dish. This salad is a classic Mediterranean dish known for its simplicity, vibrant colours and fresh flavours, making it a popular choice for a light and refreshing meal.

Ingredients:

Cucumber                   –           30g



Tomato                        –           60g

Red onion                    –           15g

Green pepper              –           25g

Feta cheese                 –           25g

Olives (black)              –           15g

Olive oil                       –           50ml

Dried oregano             –           Pinch

Red wine vinegar        –           45ml

Salt and pepper           –           To taste

Method:

  1. Wash all vegetables well and keep in separate bowls.
  2. Peel cucumber and cut into halves, deseed and dice into big cubes.
  3. Dice the remaining vegetables into cubes (tomato, red onions, deseeded green pepper).
  4. Combine all in a mixing bowl.
  5. Prepare dressing by mixing vinegar, salt, pepper and oregano. Whisk together until salt dissolves, slowly add the oil and whisk till well mixed.
  6. Sprinkle the dressing on the diced vegetables and toss cold in the mixing bowl.
  7. Garnish with feta cheese and black olives. Sprinkle dry or fresh chopped oregano on salad and serve.
