Traditional Greek salad, often called ‘Horiatiki’ in Greece, is a refreshing and delicious dish. This salad is a classic Mediterranean dish known for its simplicity, vibrant colours and fresh flavours, making it a popular choice for a light and refreshing meal.
Ingredients:
Cucumber – 30g
Tomato – 60g
Red onion – 15g
Green pepper – 25g
Feta cheese – 25g
Olives (black) – 15g
Olive oil – 50ml
Dried oregano – Pinch
Red wine vinegar – 45ml
Salt and pepper – To taste
Method:
- Wash all vegetables well and keep in separate bowls.
- Peel cucumber and cut into halves, deseed and dice into big cubes.
- Dice the remaining vegetables into cubes (tomato, red onions, deseeded green pepper).
- Combine all in a mixing bowl.
- Prepare dressing by mixing vinegar, salt, pepper and oregano. Whisk together until salt dissolves, slowly add the oil and whisk till well mixed.
- Sprinkle the dressing on the diced vegetables and toss cold in the mixing bowl.
- Garnish with feta cheese and black olives. Sprinkle dry or fresh chopped oregano on salad and serve.
