Quality education for the youth is key to sustainable development and the expected transformation of Ghana, Taptap Send Growth Director for Africa, Darryl Koku Mawutor Abraham, has said.

He believes that the current plight of Africa and Ghana in all aspect of growth and development could be overcome with the right education for all the young ones, and for that matter all efforts must be aimed at ensuring access to education for all.

Mr. Abraham made the observation at a brief ceremony in Accra when he presented a cheque for US$10,000 to the Citi FM/Citi TV’s Foundation for its Citi Opportunity Project on Education (COPE) in support of education in Ghana.

He commended the brains behind COPE for offering scholarships to brilliant but needy students – who would have been roaming the streets of Accra without such positive interventions, and assured that Tap tap Send, in line with its Corporate Social Responsibility, will continue to support such progressive initiatives.

He disclosed that it was for related reasons that Taptap Send last December sponsored the Child-In-Tech forum held for over 150 students from 7 Senior High Schools in the Greater Accra Region.

On behalf of the Citi FM/Citi TV Foundation, Managing Director of Citi FM/Citi TV, Samuel Attah-Mensah, expressed the Foundation’s sincere appreciation to Taptap Send and its Growth Director for Africa, Koku Mawutor, for the kind gesture – which he said will go a long way to build the future of needy souls and the country at large.

Enumerating daily challenges the Foundation encounters in raising funds, Mr. Attah-Mensah said: ‘‘We used to pay GH¢2000 a year per needy student, but now we pay GH¢8,000 per student – and this puts more pressure on our resources”.

Tattap Send is a company that facilitates the transfer of money from persons outside Africa, Asia and the Caribbean without any fees or charges to their relations, friends, institutions and businesses. It operates in the UK, US, EU and Canada.
