Former finance minister, Dr. Kwesi Botchwey is reported to have died at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, on Saturday, November 19, 2022, where he was receiving medical care.
Kwesi Botchwey served as a finance minister during the military era of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) from 1982 to 1991 and during the constitutional period of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) from 1992 to 1995.
He is the country’s longest-serving finance minister as he served in the office alongside Ghana’s longest-serving head of state, the late former president Jerry John Rawlings.
Born on September 3, 1944, Dr. Botchwey died at age 78.
