Zakiya Ahmed wins the Emerald Season of Miss Malaika

19 years old Zakiya Ahmed was crowned the Queen for the just ended Emerald Season of Miss Malaika.

After 13 weeks of talent and beauty display, hard work, evictions and friendly competitions, the Emerald Season of Miss Malaika came off on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre.

Zakiya sets record as being the first Muslim in Hijab to win the prestigious award ever since the inception of the show. Ahmed is a student at the University of Ghana, Legon, studying Psychology. Ahmed also walked away with cash, a closet filled with GTP fabrics, a car, and a 5-night trip to Johannesburg, South Africa.

However, Eunice Yayra Offei and Rebecca Abraham were also crowned as 1st and 2nd runners-up respectively.

Hosted by Naa Ashorkor Mensah-Doku and Joyce Mamle Abena Ayeh, the historic homecoming reality show was graced by all past delegates. An array of 10 beautiful young ladies, displayed their beauty, talent and intelligence before an awesome packed audience and judges – Kofi Okyere Darko, Paa John, Naa Oyoe Quartey, Ama Sarpong and Berla Mundi.

Miss Malaika is a prestigious beauty pageant organised by Charterhouse since 2002. The peagent has – through training, educating and grooming – produced dozens of well-groomed queens across various industries, including health, agriculture, technology and other significant positions.

The fun-packed evening experienced thrilling performances from Vodafone Ghana Music Artiste of the Year – Kidi, sensational singer – Adina; Afrobeat star – Kelvyn Bwoy, and ‘Friday Night’ hitmaker – Lasmid. Miss Malaika 2022 was sponsored by GTP, Club Shundy, Lux, Vaseline, and Garnier.
