Minister for Public Enterprises Pays Working Visit to Shippers’ Authority

The Minister for Public Enterprises, Hon. Joseph Cudjoe, paid a working visit to the Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) on Friday 26th August 2022 to interact with management and learn at first-hand the Authority’s operations.

The visit afforded the minister an opportunity to share his vision and strategies for the achievement of the objectives for which the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, established the Ministry of Public Enterprises.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the GSA, Ms. Benonita Bismarck who welcomed the Minister and his team, used the occasion to throw light on some of the Authority’s programmes and activities to support the operations of stakeholders in the shipping and logistics sector.

A presentation on the Authority highlighted activities on sensitisation of shippers on the Uncleared Cargo List (UCL) and demurrage; negotiation of port charges; negotiation of cocoa freight rate; advocacy for shippers on government policies; infrastructure support for stakeholders; resolution of shipper complaints; and seminars for judges of the superior court.

Interacting with management after the presentation, Hon. Cudjoe acknowledged the Authority’s immense contribution in protecting and promoting the interest of shippers across the country. He commended the Authority’s efforts which have ensured competitiveness in the shipping and logistics sector.

The CEO of GSA, Ms. Benonita Bismarck, expressed appreciation to the minister for his visit and promised to tap into his wealth of experience to navigate crucial operational matters for the state’s benefit.
