The Monaco Ghana Business Council (MGBC) is set to organise a Breakfast Meeting in Monte Carlo, Monaco, during May 2022 for cooperation and business opportunities.

The meeting is to strengthen ties between West Africa and the territory, as well as look for more allies in Africa. It is expected to bring together entrepreneurs and businessmen from both countries to discuss business opportunities and define possible collaborations that will enable the country’s economy to thrive.

About 40 applications have been received by the MGBC. A lot of Ghanaian companies will be selected to take part in this trip.

“The Monegasque counterparts on site will be more numerous to allow unlimited cooperation between Ghana and Monaco to be carried out,” General Secretary, Steven Blessing Ackah, told B&FT in an interview.

“We hope that creating networking for Ghanaian businessmen will be the starting point for boosting links between Ghana and the principality, which is increasingly seeking allies in Africa,” he said.

According to the Vice President of MGBC, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah: “The fledgling Monaco-Ghana Business Council will hold its first official event at Monte Carlo in May 2022 with a Breakfast Meeting”.

He mentioned topics to be discussed as including smart finance, housing and real estate, royalties and fund management, health care, tourism, trade and investment as well as mining exploration.

“The series of business breakfasts is scheduled from May 13 to 14, 2022. There will be an opportunity to officially promote the business cooperation agreement struck between Monaco and Ghana,” he said.

He added that the Monaco team is already present in Ghana – notably through the Aurum Monaco gold refinery, which buys Ghanaian gold and has been a sponsor of the Ghana Gold Expo Mining Conference in Takoradi since 2020. But the principality now aims to step-up collaboration with the West African state.

Also, he said, Ghana’s foreign ministry is now a partner of the MGBC as well as the Western Regional Coordinating Council, a body representing the government.

Again, he disclosed that two members of Monaco’s princely family have joined the MGBC’s board of directors; and this includes the CEO of Forbes Monaco, Luiz F. Costa Macambira.

“The principality has been seeking to strengthen its partnerships on the African continent, and we hope the MGBC will be able to assist in this direction,” he said.
