The third edition of the ‘Y Clash of the DJs’, slated to come off on Friday, April 15 to welcome the Easter festivities, will determine which of the brands in the Triangle has the elite DJ booth. The epic clash, which will be made complete with the declaration of the winner, will see astute names in the music, technology and DJing world acting as judges to ascertain the best performances of the DJs.

One of the biggest highlights of the clash will be appearance by the biggest names in the DJ terrain in Ghana – with Giles Bossman set to serve as judge. Giles Bossman was a popular music producer during the early days of the Hip-Life era, and has over 30 years of experience in Club DJ; he is also a Radio personality. He appreciates all genres of music.

Andy Kirm, the pioneer of DJing Battle and digital DJing in Ghana, co-developer of one of the most used DJing applications in Ghana – PC DJ Red Visiosonic, and the panelist for the previous edition of the ‘Y Clash of the DJs’, will join Giles Bossman on the panel.

Popular Video and Music Director, Ralph Menz – the brain behind several award-winning music videos, will feature as the third judge for the competition.

Judges will evaluate and determine the best DJing team as they display their dexterity in six thematic musical areas, namely: Reggae/Dancehall, Made in Ghana, Hip-hop, AfroBeats, Back in the Day (throwback) and Freestyle – all within a set time frame. The winning team will be determined by 50% public votes and the other 50% will be determined by a team of three judges.

Commenting on the selection of Judges for the competition, Head of YFM – Osei Kufuor, reiterated that tough contests need worthy experts with cool heads. He further shared that the process for the selection of the judges was a tough one.

“It wasn’t easy arriving at the three judges, but in the end, the team managed to pick them. The three were picked because, their varying perspective when brought together, gives one a wholesome assessment of the musical selection, control over DJing technology and the craft of the DJs,” he noted.
