…Title: Derailed: When Common Sense Eludes a Nation
Solomon Mensah, a seasoned journalist, is set to launch his first book titled ‘Derailed: When Common Sense Eludes a Nation’ on Monday, March 7, 2022 at the Advent Press, in Accra, opposite the La General Hospital.
According to him, the book covers areas including politics, security, sanitation, health, ‘failing deliberately’, obituaries, and a mixed basket of social issues.
Renowned for his journalistic write-ups, Mr. Mensah said ‘Derailed: When Common Sense Eludes a Nation’ is a compilation of some of his thought-provoking articles from 2014 to 2019.
“For over the years, I have written on politics, security, and sanitation among others because I believe we – as a nation – have performed poorly in these areas. We needed someone well-informed on how to turn things around and I strongly believe my book offers this solution,” he said in an interview with the B&FT.
Speaking on what inspired him to write a book, Mr. Mensah said in his line of duty as a journalist he has come to realize some constant challenges that are hindrances to the country’s effort to the progress hence wrote this book to help address some of those issues.
“Ghana has been moonwalking into tragedy with the economic situation in the country worsening in the tenure of successive governments. It is this that inspired me to write this book to help the nation address challenges that are drawing back its progress,” he said.
He, therefore, entreat everyone passionate about seeing a positive change as well as adding their voice to the change expected to grab a copy of the book come March 7.
“Passionate and bent on seeing Ghana become a developed nation, I wish any Ghanaian who can read and make a sound judgment of what they read grabs a copy of my book. Monday, March 7, 2022, will be a holiday so I kindly entreat anyone positively passionate about Ghana’s progress to pass through not to only grace the occasion but come buy a copy of the book,” he said.
