5th Kuenyehia Art Prize and Awards held in Accra

The 5th edition of the Kuenyehia Art Prize and exhibition has been organised in Accra to award and showcase creative arts in the country. The event brought together artistes from various different countries across the continent to explain the inspiration behind the arts.

Speaking at the event, Businessman and Lawyer Elikem Nutifafa Kuenyehia said the event was postponed last year due to the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Despite the reality of the new normal though, like the creatives we are, we continue, and we continue to bask, to bask in hope. Hope that good times follow difficult times. Hope that no situation is permanent and hope that creative endeavour will most definitely prevail.”

He announced that a group of professionals had the unenviable task of sifting through the work to settle first on the shortlisted artists, the winner and two runners-up. “This how we know we, at the Kuenyehia Trust, know we’re making a difference. That’s how we know that we’re changing lives. Changing lives of young talented African artist. For the better!”

The overall winner was Loise Arde-Arquah, while Nana Poku Cheremeh and Chinwe Chigbu were the First Runner-up and Second Runner-up respectively.
