Sub–Chief of the Wuokuraa Traditional Area in the Wa West District in the Upper West region, Naa Daramani Polibo, has called on government to speed up with the construction of the Kuuchileyiri – Wuokuraa Tuupo bad road network before the rains set in.

He made this appeal following a hint that, the department of Feeder roads has captured the road for construction works.

The 5-kilometer road which has developed several eroded gullies over the years is a virgin road from Kuuchileyiri through Wuokuraa and Tuupo that has not been open.

Speaking to radio progress news during a community engagement, Naa Polibo Daramani said the bad road network linking the neighboring communities is affecting farming and rural businesses adding that, teachers and commuters are cutoff during heavy down pour as to which causes the river to overflow in the area.

The Chief mentioned that residents in the community were ready to contribute 9,000 Ghana cedis to be able to open the road from Kuuchileyir through Wuokura to Tuupo but was later hinted that the road had been captured to be worked on.

He however called on the government to facilitate the process of the road construction before the rains set in.

The Assembly member for the Kuuchileyiri electoral area, Jerry John Ibu said he will engage with the rightful department to see the road constructed this year.

He said the poor road network is seriously affecting teaching and learning as well as agricultural activities in the area are degrading to low productivity.
