The Trade commissioner for Italian Trade Agency, Alessandro Gerbino, has said efforts by government through the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) initiative are a clear indication of how public policies are targetted toward creating more value in agriculture.

Mr. Gerbino said the PFJ initiative shows clearly the priority of government for public policy, which is to create more value which falls within exactly what the Italian Trade Agency is up to.

“Planting for Food and Jobs shows very clearly that the priority for Ghana’s public policy is to create more value, and to do that you need to build capacity in terms of technology and skills. And the way we are approaching it is exactly that one,” he stated.

He made these comments during a meeting with agri-business players to discuss the way forward at the Italian Trade Agency.

He added that the Italian Trade Agency has begun giving training to sharpen the skills of individuals in methods they are currently using in agri-business.

Mr. Gerbino said Digital Lab is a platform that companies as well as entrepreneurs can meet on to discuss and have an understanding of working together.

He said the country has a trusted partner for its forceful drive to reshape the agricultural sector through the extensive deployment of skills and technology-based agricultural transformation.
