Every event needs that vibrant, exuberant, lively and classy mediator to officiate the proceedings. It may seem as an easy job; after all what do you have to do, stand and give commands to an audience.
In truth being an MC requires a unique skill that is learnt or acquired through training, but to be the best mediator for an event you need to be naturally gifted. Meet Elvis Mensah, popularly known by his moniker McNanaKay, one of Ghana’s finest MCs.
Elvis Mensah hails from Agona Swedru and grew up in Cape Coast, Third Ridge. His education life started in Cape Coast then continued to Ghana National College. He completed University of Cape Coast where he obtained his Bachelor of Commerce degree and is a proud Casfordian.
His MC journey began 12years ago at a church wedding where the MC who was supposed to mediate the event did not show up at the last minute. McNanaKay ceased the opportunity and stepped in as a last resort. He managed the event gracefully and exceeded expectations. That event was an eye opener as he was ushered into the world of presenting and manning events.
He handled the event with ease as if he has been doing it his entire life. After his breakthrough impromptu gig, he was called upon to MC weddings and church programs. Every event opened new doors for him and he had the opportunity to MC Balls, Parties, Corporate Events and Products Launch. It was during those times he [McNanaKay] found his calling.
As a naturally gifted public speaker, he has been in radio from 2005, when he got scouted by Radio Central (G.B.C.) where his grooming began. He has worked with various radio stations and currently with OWASS Fm, radio station based in Tarkwa.
He has had the opportunity to mediate so many events, including
- 2019 Professional Golfers Association Dinner and Awards. (PGA, Ghana)
- SSNIT Senior Staff End of Year Dinner
- SSNIT Ladies Club 2019 & 2020 Retirement Ball
- Goldfields Senior Staff Night with Kwabena Kwabena
- Coca Cola Open Happiness Campaign (Central Region)
- Over 150 wedding receptions across Ghana
Over his years of “MCing” he has been able to develop a knack and proficiency to be a brand ambassador for any brand and be trusted to MC more events which include Moderating Seminars, Product Launches, Be a tour guide, host an award show etc.
His aspiration is to be a philanthropist, as mentioned by, Timothy Pina. “Philanthropy is not about money; it’s about feeling the pain of others and caring enough about their needs to help.” It is a very difficult situation to see young children go through various early stage deformity issues. Neonatal care is an area very close to his heart.
He sees himself to be one of the most sort after Master of Ceremonies in a few years to come. His passion and satisfaction is to see guest excited after an encounter. He enjoys being a Master of Ceremonies, that’s where he feels fully alive.
