The turntables are set and your favourite DJs are ready to shut down the country this Saturday at the second edition of the most anticipated disc jockey battle, the Y Clash of the DJs which is organized by Ghana’s biggest urban entertainment radio channel, YFM.

The maiden edition of the Y Clash of the DJs came off in 2020 as an initiative to give Ghanaians a little breather from the intense boredom that came with the lockdown. The best DJs from Y107.9FM Accra, Y102.5FM Kumasi and Y97.9FM Takoradi went on a sizzling battle to finally settle the debate on who is the actual beast on the turntables.

YFM Accra’s YVengers, who won the title last year, will be representing again this year to battle against YFM Takoradi’s Hot Squad and YFM Kumasi’s Killa Squad in a bid to retain their title of ultimate champions and reputation as the ‘littest’ DJs in the game.

The YVengers, in view of the International Women’s Day celebration this year, have substituted DJ Mic Smith with Mz Orstin giving them two males and two females on their team although technically, it will be two females, Mz Orstin and DJ Kess, and one male, the dangerous DJ Loft on the turntables, with the ‘baddest’ Kojo Manuel as their hypeman.

DJ Carcious, DJ Bongo and DJ Lexes of YFM Kumasi’s Killa Squad as well as DJ Edita, DJ Gunshot and DJ Suraka of YFM Takoradi will be showcasing their prowess on the turntables in hopes of snatching the title from the YVengers of YFM Accra.

Speaking on the upcoming event, Chief Director of Global Media Alliance Broadcasting Company, Emma Wenani, “One of the core mandates of YFM is to provide its listeners with nothing less than the best entertainment content and that is why upon seeing how Ghanaians were getting tired and bored from staying home during the lockdown last year, we birthed the idea of Y Clash of the DJs.

Of course, it was solely to serve the purpose of entertaining Ghanaians during lockdown however, feedback only tells us that we would be starving our listeners if we did not bring back Y Clash of the DJs and that is why season 2 is here even bigger and better. This time, the winning team will be determined by 50% public votes and 50% by a team of three judges, hence, it will be equally as fair as it will be exciting.

Miss Wenani urged listeners to adhere to all Covid-19 protocols to ensure public safety as we fight the Coronavirus pandemic worldwide.

To experience this epic battle of the DJs, tune in to Y107.9FM in Accra, Y102.5FM in Kumasi or Y97.9FM if you’re in Takoradi. You can also watch the battle live on eTV Ghana or via our Instagram and Facebook pages @1025fm, @1079fm, @979fm or @etvghana.
