Mr. Elliot Williams, the B&FT Special Project Consultant, has been adjudged CIIG Insurance reporter of the Year 2019 at the maiden edition of the Chartered Institute of Insurance Ghana (CIIG) awards held in Accra last week.

Mr. Williams said: “I am elated to win this award. This goes to show that hard work, dedication and perseverance produce results. When we started this journey some years ago, our aim was to improve insurance education in the country. This goes to show a team that works together wins together.

“Our objectives have not changed at Business & Financial Times. Through our well-established research team, we seek to serve not only the Ghana insurance market but Africa as a whole,” he added.

Mr. Williams has since 2001 physically followed up with reports from the West Africa Insurance Companies Association (WAICA) and Africa Insurance Organisation (AIO) annual educational and annual general meetings and conferences.

On the local front, he has also reported on issues relating to the Ghana Insurers Association (GIA) and Insurance Brokers Association of Ghana (IBAG).

The CIIG Awards 2019 provided a platform to recognise and honour individuals and companies which have played significant roles in the insurance sector’s growth and development.

Mr. Williams joined the B&FT from High Street Journal in 2003, and has since established the insurance page to become a household name among players in the industry.
