Recipe Corner with Dainess Chef’s School: Three (3) Milk Cake (Tres Leches Cake)

Moist and creamy is what Tres leches (3 milk) cake represents. Tres leches cake is a simple sponge cake soaked with a generous mixture of three kinds of milk; whole milk, condensed milk and evaporated milk, then finally topped with whipped cream, making this cake super moist and creamy which easily melts away in your mouth. This is the perfect cake for milk lovers and amazingly satisfying as a dessert.

Ingredients

  • Soft flour           -1½ cup
  • Dainess baking powder -1tsp
  • 1st white sugar           -1cup
  • Butter/Margarine           – ½ cup
  • Dainess vanilla essence -1tbsp
  • Eggs           -5
  • Fresh milk           – 2cups
  • Condensed milk           -1cup
  • Ideal milk           -1tin(small)
  • Whipping cream           -1½cup
  • 2nd Sugar           -1cup
  • Dainess vanilla essence -1tbsp

Cooking Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 175 degrees. Grease and flour one 9 x13 inch baking pan.
  2. Sift flour and baking powder together and set aside.
  3. Cream butter or margarine and the 1cup sugar together until fluffy. Add eggs and the ½ teaspoon vanilla extract; beat well.
  4. Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture 2 tablespoons at a time; mix until well blended. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  5. Bake at 175 degrees for 30 minutes. Pierce cake several times with a fork.
  6. Combine the whole milk, condensed milk, and evaporated milk together. Pour over the top of the cooled cake.
  7. Whip whipping cream, the remaining 1cup of the sugar, and the remaining 1 teaspoon vanilla together until thick. Spread over the top of cake. Be sure and keep cake refrigerated, enjoy!
