Communications Trends with GMA … Digital transformation of businesses: no longer an option to consider, it’s a must to stay in business

Digital transformation of businesses is basically the integration of technology into all or some aspects of a business to facilitate the easy operation and delivery of services to clients.

Over the years, this decision has always been an option to consider for businesses willing and ready to leverage on the fast-growing digital space to grow their businesses and to expand their boundaries. While some few businesses took the opportunity to leverage on the growing digital space, many businesses were reluctant to adapt to this new trend.

Unfortunately for the many businesses that overlooked this new trend, the outbreak and subsequent declaration of COVID-19 as a pandemic by the World Health organization, which led to the closure of many cities across the world, is having a drastic toll on their businesses.

Fortunately, the few businesses that were not reluctant to adopt this new trend have not been affected much by these lockdowns across the world and are still able to operate and run their businesses from the comfort of their homes with little or no challenge at all.

While some schools of thought suggest that, digital transformation cannot be adopted by all business models, I strongly believe there’s always an aspect of a business that can be digitized to make it easy running it.

What people need to understand is that, the digital transformation of businesses is a gradual process that can even last for many years. From my perspective, the key thing to start the digital transformation of a business with is a fully responsive website where all information about your business and contact details can be found, this is to stress on the point that every business needs a website where people can learn about them and what they do.

To me, the digital transformation of businesses has become a must because:

First of all, it exposes your business to a wider audience. We are living in an age where people are always looking for information about various businesses online, unlike in the past where people were more interested in the physical structures of businesses due to the fear of being scammed.

Imagine you own a business that deals in the supply of PPE and you have invested in an online asset, be it website or social media, in this period where a partial lockdown has been imposed and there’s a high in the demand for PPE, it will be very easy for people looking for PPEs to procure to come across your brand, unlike your competitors who may not have any online presence.

Also, digital transformation helps build a stronger brand reputation. In today’s world of business, when customers start to trust brands, they become loyal to them which in turn results into positive referrals. In this case, you are able to constantly update customers and prospective customers on timely basis on new products, projects and other key dealings of the brand.

For instance, in these difficult times we find ourselves, some brands have managed to send out newsletters and messages to their customers on key measures they have put in place to ensure their business environment is safe and to also assure them of their commitment to support the fight against the virus.

These brands have been able to reach out to all these customers because they have their databases. At the end of the day, these customers won’t be worried about going to do business with these brands. As a business or business owner, do you have a database of all your customers?

In conclusion, the time has come for you to digitally transform your business without having second thoughts. This will go a long way to help your business stay in competition or event stay ahead of competitors.
