Tema West disabilities group receive food items

The Tema West Municipal Assembly has distributed food items to over 500 Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in their various homes in the municipality.

The recipients include the Blind, Deaf, Physically disabled, Persons with Albinism, Cerebral Palsy and Down Syndrome, Autism and Stroke victims. They received items such as rice, yam, vegetable oil, onions, tin fish, and tin tomatoes.

Chairman of Tema West Disability Committee and a representative of Ghana Federation of Disable (GFD) Charles Narh Teye, said the distribution of food items demonstrated their commitment of promoting the wellbeing of members.



Following the restrictions of movement within some areas and the suspension of social gatherings, it has become impossible for some disabled persons to continue to earn a living through their petty trading and business activities, hence the need for the disability committee and the assembly to distribute items in order to ease the difficulties they might be going through during this partial lock down.

He appealed to corporate organizations and the general public to assist persons with disabilities in this crucial times. He also appealed to PWDs to adhere to COVID-19 preventive measures and build their immune system with healthy diet.
