WGHS Cape Coast donates hospital equipment to UCCTH The 1996 year group of Wesley Girls High School (WGHS) Cape Coast has donated hospital equipment to the University of Cape Coast Teaching Hospital. The equipment include an Incubator, two Phototherapy Machines, ‘Firefly’ and a Radiant Warmer estimated at over GH¢110.00 to the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit of the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital. Speaking at the ceremony, the year group President, Leninsor A.D. Kakraba-Quarshie, revealed that Wesley Girls High School, Cape Coast has a long-standing tradition of Old Girls undertaking various projects to support not just the infrastructural needs of the school, but the community and nation as a whole. She indicated that five years after posting the school’s trendsetting 180th Anniversary Speech and Prize Day, the Wesley Girls High School (WGHS) Class of 1996 commemorated their 25th Anniversary since leaving school, with a donation to the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of Cape Coast Teaching Hospital as per tradition. However, due to the COVID-19 restriction, she explained that the school’s Class of 1996 was unable to hold the traditional fund-raising Dinner Dance last November to mark the 25th Anniversary. Indeed, the President recounted that once the COVID-19 restrictions were lifted completely, the innovative young women organised a Fundraising Breakfast on April 30, 2022 to raise funds for their chosen project, as well as catch up with sisters, friends and classmates. Dr. Robert Inkoom, Director of Pharmacy, who received the items on behalf of the hospital management, thanked the 1996 year group for their kind gesture. He said the donation was timely because the unit was indeed of a lot of equipment, and especially space, to take care of these little babies. He hoped it will not be the end, and expected that the 1997 year group would continue from where 1996 group left off. Present at the handing over ceremony were other members and executive of WGHS Class of 1996. They included the Organising Secretary - Akua Asare, and the treasurer - Ms. Francesca Bedzra. Other management staff of the hospital were Dr. Joyce Ansong - Head of Paediatric NICU, Paulina Adomako - Deputy Director of Nursing Service, and Kafui Agbedemu - Deputy Director of Finance and Budget.
