The Nuaso District Assembly Junior High School, at Nuaso in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region, wants corporate organisations and benevolent individuals to help provide well-secured classroom facilities and other educational resources to enhance education in the area.

Currently, the basic school, which has a student population of 127, has had to put up with always clearing human matters and break-ins each morning since their windows and doors are not well secured, according to the Headteacher, George Agyapong.

Given the situation, he observed that this has made their classrooms easily accessible to thieves and all manner of persons whose activities are impeding the teaching and learning process.

Also, because there is very little community support for the single-stream school, he entreated philanthropic organisations like ASA Savings and Loans and others to come to their aid.

The headteacher made this appeal when the Santasi Area Branch of ASA Savings and Loans donated several educational materials including furniture, textbooks, exercise books, among others, to the Nuaso D/A JHS.

As government, through the local educational authorities, continues to do its part, he said the citizens equally should support to promote education.

The Santasi Area Manager of ASA Savings and Loans, Francis Gyabeng, said while the gesture was “to put smiles on the faces of our cherished customers by reducing part of their financial burden”, it also demonstrates ASA’s commitment to local education.

Education, he noted, remains a bedrock for development; thus, the commitment of the company to support parents to give their children quality education to bequeath to them a better future.

He added that the financial institution as part of its CSR continues to embark on other initiatives like drilling boreholes, health screening and making donations to the needy in society.

The Branch Manager, Karl Lutterodt, and the Assistant Branch Manager, Rafik Dawud, who were part of the ASA Savings and Loans’ delegation to present the items to the school, in their interaction with the pupils, encouraged them to take their studies seriously.

While noting that ASA Savings and Loans will continue to play its role as a good corporate citizen, they are also hopeful that the gesture will go a long way to promote education in the area.

Also, the Assembly member of Nuaso-Kokobriko Electoral Area, Eric Asare, speaking at the sidelines of the donation, said he will continue to seek avenues to bring support to the school.

He said the provision of the educational materials will particularly help boost the school’s enrollment and further improve teaching and learning in the school.

The Assembly member also expressed gratitude to ASA Savings and Loans, especially the Area Manager, for considering their earlier appeals.
