Ever wondered if celebrities actually use the brands they endorse? Aren’t you sometimes curious to know whether those who are responsible for all the technology the world uses, are in fact using it themselves?
What cars does Tesla CEO Elon Musk drive? Does Jeff Bezos depend on Alexa to know about the weather? What is Bill Gates’ favourite Operating System? How does Mark Zuckerberg maintain data privacy?
We’d all like a peek into the personal lives of tech honchos, but not all information is available in the public domain.
Although, once in a while tech billionaires have shared tiny details about which brand of smartphones they use and surely you would be curious to know if you’re using the same, wouldn’t you? Take a look.
Bill Gates
Given the integrations between Android and Microsoft’s software, most of Gates’ devices are primarily Android ones.
The co-founder of Microsoft, however, keeps an iPhone handy in the event he wants to use it for any reason. But at all other times he has a day-to-day Android device.
The iPhone device he uses is said to be outdated (iPhone 5S until recently), and he uses it only to stay abreast of the difference using an iPhone can make as compared to an Android device.
Jeff Bezos
The Amazon owner and founder used a Blackberry phone back in 2012 and was last seen using a Samsung handset, before he launched Amazon’s Fire Phone. Which phone he is presently using is a mystery.
Elon Musk
Though the Tesla CEO has never openly admitted to using any particular brand of phone, he has often mentioned the iPhone or iPad on several occasions during his interviews. From this we can only gather that he is in fact a fan of the iPhone, whichever version that may be.
Evan Spiegel
The founder of Snapchat, Evan Spiegel, is also an iPhone user. While his current device is as of yet unknown, not so long ago he revealed that he doesn’t use a case for his iPhone as he is very careful with his devices.
Mark Zuckerberg
But of course, the CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg uses the iPhone and it is believed that he receives free iPhones from Apple from time to time because of his personal connection with many Apple executives. Although we wonder if the CEO of the world’s wealthiest social media platforms really needs those freebies!
Tim Cook
No prizes for guessing this one! The CEO of Apple uses nothing but iPhone and Apple products in general. He has been spotted using the latest iPhones in public several times. This is a true test of the faith one has in one’s own products! But it would be interesting to know what Tim Cook thinks of Android phones we think.
Larry Page and Sergey Brin
The co-founders of Google use a variety of Android phones. Sergey Brin used to have a Nexus phone, but now he is likely to be carrying the Google Pixel. The first phone however, that Larry carried, was a Blackberry. Likely a Stanford EE380 version.
Wonder what their take on the iPhone is though!
Travis Kalanick
The 45-year-old co-founder and former CEO of Uber has often been spotted whipping out his iPhone for use during public appearances.
Sundar Pichai
Google CEO Sundar Pichai bought his first smartphone in 2006 and his first ever phone, a Motorola StarTAC, in 1995.
In a 2015 interview, Pichai had said he has about 20-30 phones in his house. We are guessing most or all of these phones are made by Google, especially since he has on occasion expressed concerns over privacy where any other brands are concerned.
