Something very special appears to be brewing as rising songstress of the moment, Mona4real, born Mona Faiz Montrage, has teamed up with the dancehall king – Shatta Wale for her highly anticipated fourth single.
Aptly titled ‘My Baby’, this comes after 1Don has paid homage to Mona4Real on a number of records including the famous lines, “Ma Alhajia For Real, I call her Mona… She got things things you don’ know yah,” from his smash hit ‘Hol’ it’. This time, however, he is a guest artist – the first she has featured and follows the resounding success of her first three singles – Badder than, Fine Girl.
Speaking about the rationale behind the song, Mona, who graduated from the Art Institute of New York with qualifications in fashion designing stated that the song means a lot to her as it comes from a place of a deep bond, adding that the feeling trickles into the song, resulting in something that fans would appreciate.
“This is my first collaboration and I am super excited not only because it is with Shatta Wale but also because it is a good one,” she said.
Mona4Reall said she has been particularly overwhelmed by the love and support from within the music fraternity and beyond, and that has vindicated her decision to pursue her dreams of being a singer.
“I have been overwhelmed by the love and support I have received from my colleagues and fans, I did not know what to expect and it scared me but it has been amazing and encouraging and I want to do more,” she explained.
The epic collaboration appears to be a foreshadow of what is to come as she says her fans and industry observers should expect an Extend Play (EP) record before the end of the year. It seems fourth time’s the charm as they bring their deep friendship to bear on the Mix Master Garzy-produced track and from the sound of things, this is bound to be one of the biggest songs of the year.
‘My Baby’ can be accessed for streaming and downloads on global channels including Spotify, Boomplay, AudioMack, Apple Music, Boomplay as well as indigenous platforms including Sound Cit and Aftown, amongst others.
