The Ghana Insurance Industry has been hit by the death of two big-wigs – Mr. James Samuel Itu Wood-Managing Director of Edward Mensah Wood and Associates, a firm of insurance brokers; and Mr. Edward Amuh, Executive Director, RegencyNem Insurance Ghana Limited.
Both men were Chartered Insurance Practitioners who held a professional qualification from the prestigious Insurance Institute of London in the United Kingdom.
Mr. Edward Amuh passed on February 21, while Mr. James Wood passed on March 27.
Mr. Edward Amuh held an MBA in Entrepreneur Management from the University of Ghana Business School and a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), first class in Banking and Finance, and was a renowned Insurance Practitioner and fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana.
The Late Amuh was endowed with profound experience and expertise in insurance, having started his career 1992 with the SIC Insurance Company before moving on to Quality Insurance Company as the Marketing Manager. Within two years, Mr. Amuh was made Senior Manager in charge of Marketing and Underwriting until he finally left Quality Insurance Company as Chief Operating Officer in 2010.
In July 2010 he joined NEM Insurance Ghana Limited as General Manager Operations, and was later elevated to the position of Executive Director Operations on the basis of performance.
Following the merger between Regency Alliance Company Limited and NEM Insurance Ghana Limited to form RegencyNem Insurance Ghana Limited, Amuh became Executive Director (Business Development).
He attended several courses on Insurance, Management, Oil and Gas, Engineering, Reinsurance Claims Management, cutting across Ghana and internationally.
