The Head of Corporate Affairs of the Guaranty Trust Bank Ghana, Richard Ahiagble, has resigned.

Although the Lender is yet to issue a formal release on his departure, a post on Mr. Ahiagble’s LinkedIn page indicates he is leaving to pursue personal interests outside the Bank.

Part of his post read “Over the last 18 months I have had the privilege of leading a young and talented team to transform the reputation of the Bank and to position it as one of the leading retail banks in the country. When I joined GTBank in January 2019, I knew the way to make a difference was to completely rethink the way we engaged with our customers. Our marketing communication & PR needed to stand out and build trust especially at the back of the financial sector clean up the year prior. My team and I took the first couple of weeks to review how the Bank communicated and what needed to change. Collectively we decided our strategy will be digital first and digital led. Then came the unlearning & re-learning process and the execution of a bold digital agenda that connected with our audience in a compelling way – contributing to a remarkable growth in uptake of our retail & digital banking offerings. Thanks to everyone at GTBank for the wonderful experience. It’s been an incredible journey and I wish you all well in the years to come”.

Mr. Ahiagble took over as Group Head of Corporate Affairs at GTBank in January 2019 post the expansive Banking sector reform that saw universal banks in the country cut from 34 to 23 heralding a period of uncertainty and low customer confidence. He led a bold agenda to rebuild trust and reposition the Lender as a retail bank of choice in Ghana. He also oversaw the creation and rollout of the Bank’s CSR programmes targeting education and health with the Bank’s flagship CSR programme ‘Digital Schools’ launched to provide ICT centers for Primary and Junior High Schools in vulnerable communities across the country.

He joined the Bank from Media General where he served as Group Head of Corporate Affairs. Prior to that he was Head of Corporate Communications for Airtel Ghana.
