The Executive Women Network (EWN), the pre-eminent non-profit organisation for women in senior management and executive positions in Ghana, has donated personal protective equipment, essential medical supplies and relief items to Health facilities and vulnerable communities in the Greater Accra and Upper East Regions as part of the Network’s contribution to the fight against COVID-19.
In Accra, the Network donated food items, Veronica buckets and detergents to vulnerable families within the Chorkor community, and used the opportunity to educate community members on measures to protect themselves and their families from contracting the virus.
At the Kwabenya District Hospital, one of the treatment and isolation centres, the Network donated detergents, hand sanitisers and toiletries to the hospital and frontline health workers. The Network also catered for and provided meals to frontline health workers for three weeks to celebrate their amazing work in this difficult time.
In the Upper East Region, the Network donated personal protective equipment (PPEs) and Veronica buckets to the Talensi District Hospital, Bongo District Hospital, Bolgatanga Regional Hospital, Zuarungu Health Centre and the Coronation Health Centre.
Presenting the items, the Office Manager of EWN, Wendy Nunoo, said the donation forms part of EWN’s core vision to alleviate the plight of underprivileged and vulnerable women and children, especially in difficult times such as these.
She commented: “We are aware of the damaging effects the global pandemic has had and continues to have on communities, businesses and the global economy. At a time like this, the impact on vulnerable communities, women and children cannot be overemphasised.
To win the fight against the pandemic, we all need to stand together and pitch in to support the most vulnerable in our communities. These donations are in line with our commitment to support and empower vulnerable communities”.
She concluded by saying, “We want to take this opportunity to celebrate the health workers and all frontline workers as they lead the fight against the pandemic. Finally, we want to extend our gratitude to Fredor GH and Zesuza Farms & Catering Services for supporting our donation exercise”.
