Members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in Ghana are set to host a landmark seminar focused on promoting ethical standards and professional transparency within the country’s real estate and built environment sectors.
The seminar, scheduled for Thursday, July 3, 2025, will take place at the Dynaspace, The Signature Apartment, East Legon – Accra, under the theme ‘Professional Ethics and Transparency in Real Estate’. It is expected to attract participants from across the surveying, construction, property management, valuation, and academic fields.
The seminar comes at a critical time as Ghana continues to experience rapid urban expansion, rising demand for housing, and increased interest from local and international investors. Industry leaders have emphasized that strong ethical frameworks, transparent market practices, and adherence to international standards are essential to building trust, attracting sustainable investment, and enhancing professional credibility across the sector.
The keynote address will be delivered by Bonface Waweru, MRICS, RICS Sub-Saharan Africa Market Development Lead. His remarks will focus on the global outlook for ethical real estate practice and the role of professional institutions in shaping market integrity.
The event will be chaired by Surv. Rosemagaret Esubonteng, FGhIS, a past president of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS) and an advocate for standards-driven leadership in the built environment. A goodwill message will also be delivered by the current President of GhIS. In addition to keynote presentations and technical sessions, the seminar will include a general discussion segment aimed at encouraging open engagement on the ethical challenges and opportunities within Ghana’s property industry.
Lead sponsors for the seminar include Orient Property Consulting, Broll Ghana, Property Datahub, and Stratigiko, all of whom are committed to promoting professional development and ethical business practices. The event will also feature the participation of the UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce, underscoring the strong ties between international business networks and Ghana’s built environment sector.
The organizing team has also extended invitations to faculty and students from UPSA, Accra Technical University, Central University, and other academic institutions, to encourage early exposure to best practices and foster mentorship between experienced professionals and the next generation of practitioners.
The seminar will also serve as an opportunity to engage professionals across Ghana’s built environment who are interested in becoming members of RICS, the leading global professional body for qualifications and standards in land, property, construction, and infrastructure. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the benefits of RICS membership and the various pathways to becoming a globally recognized chartered professional.
With participation from both public and private stakeholders, the event is expected to contribute meaningfully to strengthening industry confidence, encouraging transparency, and enhancing professional integrity in Ghana’s evolving real estate sector.
