In the wake of the scrapping of the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy), GhanaPay Mobile Money users can now enjoy completely free transfers on the platform, providing Ghanaians an attractive alternative for sending money without incurring any charges.

This development positions GhanaPay Mobile Money as one of the most cost-effective and comprehensive mobile money services in the country, particularly at a time when consumers are actively seeking more affordable and efficient digital financial solutions.

GhanaPay is a Mobile Money service powered by Ghanaian banks, including universal banks, rural and community banks, and savings and loans companies.

Operated in collaboration with the Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GhIPSS), the service combines the convenience of mobile money with the robustness of traditional banking on a single, seamless platform.

With the removal of the E-Levy, GhanaPay Mobile Money users no longer pay transfer fees, making it ideal for individuals, small businesses, and organizations seeking to reduce transactional costs while embracing digital payments.

But GhanaPay Mobile Money goes far beyond just free transfers. It provides a comprehensive suite of financial services tailored to meet both personal and business needs.

The high-yield savings wallet allows users to save directly from their wallets while earning attractive interest on their savings, making it a convenient way to grow wealth.

Customers can also set up automatic payments for bills or contributions using the standing instructions feature. This ensures timely settlements without the need for manual intervention and promotes better financial discipline.

The platform’s Crowdfunding feature enables individuals or groups to raise funds for causes such as education, health, community development, and emergencies, directly on the App.

Additionally, the Sponsored Wallet service allows users to allocate funds to a beneficiary for controlled spending. The sponsor defines how much the beneficiary can spend and over what period, with full control to modify or remove beneficiaries at any time.

Users can now also pay their electricity bills directly through GhanaPay, joining a growing list of essential services available on the platform.

The ability to buy data and airtime on other mobile money networks further enhances convenience, making GhanaPay Mobile Money a one-stop shop for everyday digital payment needs.

Samuel Darko, Head of GhanaPay at GhIPSS, revealed that further enhancements are planned for the service, with the goal of making it the most functional and user-friendly mobile money platform in the country. “Our aim is to continually enrich the user experience and support Ghana’s transition toward a truly cash-lite economy,” he said.

He emphasized that the platform’s blend of mobile money and banking capabilities means users don’t have to choose between the two they get the best of both worlds.

GhanaPay Mobile Money features make it particularly useful for students, parents, small business owners, churches, cooperatives, and civil society organizations, especially those looking for easy, traceable, and now completely free ways to send and manage money, and as well as make payments.

As Ghana advances its digital financial services agenda, GhanaPay stands out as a transformative tool that not only democratizes access to banking services but also eliminates key cost barriers to digital adoption.
