MTN Ghana has donated items and cash worth GH₵20,000 to the Muslim community in Kumasi in support of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.

The donated items include an e-cash amount of GH₵10,000; bottled water, soft drinks, rice, cooking oil and a ram, all totalling GH₵10,000.

Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated annually by Muslims worldwide to mark the end of Ramadan, a month-long period of fasting and devotion.

Over the years, MTN Ghana has consistently supported the Muslim community with similar donations during Eid celebrations.

Presenting the items to representatives from the Office of the Regional Chief Imam, Senior Manager of Sales for MTN’s Northern Ghana Business District, Simon Amoh, emphasised the company’s commitment to serving its customers, including the Muslim community.

“I think the essence is clear to all of us. We have a few days left to complete Ramadan, a period of fasting and devotion for Muslims. As a Pan-African company, MTN identifies with all beliefs and acknowledges the importance of faith in God. This is an annual gesture and as we speak, similar donations are being made in Accra to the National Chief Imam as well as in the Western and Northern Regions,” he said.

Mr. Amoh further expressed appreciation for the loyalty of the Muslim community over the years. He also noted that on the final day of Eid prayers, MTN would set up a customer service desk at the Kumasi Central Mosque to assist individuals with services such as SIM replacements and registrations.

Executive Secretary at the Office of the Regional Chief Imam, Ustaz Ahmed Seidu, expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana for its continuous support.

“On behalf of the Imam, I am here to receive these items. Once again, MTN has demonstrated its commitment to the welfare of the Muslim community. They have been a good friend to us, and we sincerely appreciate their efforts. We wish them success in their endeavours and pray for MTN’s continued growth across Ghana and Africa,” he said.
