Fidelity Bank inclusion agenda touches lives

In a bold move to address inequality and uplift marginalized communities, Fidelity Bank Ghana, the largest privately owned Ghanaian bank, has demonstrated its commitment to social responsibility by supporting the Tetteh Ocloo State School for the Deaf in Ashaiman.

Through its Employee Volunteering Program (EVP), the bank’s Digital Sales and Retail Banking team donated a significant amount of food items and educational supplies to the school, bringing smiles to the faces of 359 students and 30 dedicated teachers.

According to the 2021 Ghana Population and Housing Census, approximately 470,737 Ghanaians experience some form of hearing loss, with 19,448 unable to hear at all. Many of these individuals face significant barriers to education, employment, and social inclusion.



Fidelity Bank recognizes the importance of empowering marginalized communities and took proactive steps to provide tangible support to the students and faculty of the Tetteh Ocloo State School for the Deaf.

Through the EVP initiative, the bank’s Digital Sales and Retail Banking team provided essential food items, including two 50kg bags of rice, sacks of gari and beans, sugar, packs of milk, tomato paste, tinned mackerel, and drinks.

Additionally, to enhance the learning environment for the 359 students and 30 teachers, the team donated vital stationery, including 200 exercise books, boxes of pencils, board markers, pens, erasers, and sharpeners.

Speaking on the initiative, Julian Opuni, Managing Director of Fidelity Bank Ghana, highlighted the importance of bridging societal gaps and promoting inclusivity: “At Fidelity Bank, we believe that true progress is measured by how we uplift the most vulnerable among us. Our support for this school is about sending a powerful message that every individual, regardless of their abilities, deserves dignity, opportunity, and the chance to thrive.”

“The School Management and the entire student body of Tetteh Ocloo State School for the Deaf would like to express our sincere gratitude for your generous donation of food items to our school,” Isaac Arthur, Headmaster of the school said .

“Your thoughtful donation has made a significant positive impact on our school, ensuring our learners have access to nutritious meals. We are especially appreciative of the donation, which was particularly needed and well-received.

“Your support has not only provided sustenance but also demonstrated a strong commitment to the wellbeing of our learners. We are deeply grateful for your kindness and generosity, and we assure you that your donation will be used effectively to support our students’ nutritional needs,” he added.

Fidelity Bank’s EVP serves as a platform for employees to actively contribute to meaningful social change, reinforcing the bank’s broader corporate social responsibility strategy.

Through such initiatives, Fidelity Bank continues to champion financial and social inclusion, ensuring that vulnerable communities receive the support needed to overcome challenges and pursue their aspirations.
