Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Takoradi Constituency, has supported 700 youths in the area with start-up tools.
The beneficiaries, who have had hands-on training in various trades, were supported with bakery equipment, hair dryers, sewing machines, welding machines and accessories and drilling machines, among others.
The project dubbed ‘Kobby Youth Investment Initiative’, aims to empower Takoradi youths by providing them with productive assets to generate income, wealth and prosperity.
According to the MP, who is also the Western Regional Minister, the objective is to enable young people to create their own jobs and prosperity.
“The goal is to nurture 6,000 entrepreneurs across every household in Takoradi Constituency,” he added.
Joana Ocran, a beneficiary, expressed appreciation to the MP for the start-up tools, saying: “I completed training in hairdressing over a year ago; this support will enable me start my business in the house and also train others in my area to acquire some skill”.
