India Fest 2024: A grand celebration of Indian culture in Accra

India Fest 2024, one of Accra’s most anticipated cultural events, dazzled attendees on Saturday, October 26, with an impressive celebration of Indian heritage, culture, and cuisine.

Organised by the High Commission of India in Accra and inaugurated by H.E. Mr. Manish Gupta, the High Commissioner of India to Ghana, the event drew a over 3000 strong vibrant and diverse crowd eager to experience India’s colors, rhythms, and flavors.



The festival started with a captivating dance performance, setting a festive tone for the evening’s activities.

Ghanaian artists delighted the crowd with Bollywood dance performances, creating a lively fusion of Indian and Ghanaian cultural expressions that evoked rounds of applause and enthusiastic cheers.

The INDIGHA Band further energised the atmosphere with a blend of Indian and Ghanaian beats, keeping attendees joyfully celebrating the rhythm.

Cultural showcases included a variety of performances by Indian community associations, featuring traditional music and theatrical displays that highlighted the diversity of India’s cultural heritage.

The exhibits offered attendees a glimpse into India’s artistic legacy, showcasing an array of artifacts, sculptures, paintings, traditional attire, and jewelry.

Festival-goers enjoyed an authentic Indian cuisine experience, savoring dishes that spanned India’s regional flavors—from spicy street food to mouth-watering sweets—providing a memorable highlight of the event.

An Indian Bazaar added another layer of cultural immersion, featuring stalls with traditional crafts, clothing, and jewelry. This bustling marketplace allowed attendees to take home unique items reflecting India’s rich cultural tapestry.

This year’s India Fest successfully brought together people from all walks of life, enhancing Accra’s cultural landscape and reinforcing the strong bond between India and Ghana.
