Volkswagen Motorsport gave a spectacular performance at the recent Zwartkops Top of the Hill Challenge in Pretoria, South Africa.

Jonathan Mogotsi excelled in the hill climb with his SupaPolo, while Judd Bertholdt and Brendon Staniforth emerged victorious in the Volkswagen Rookie Cup class.

Volkswagen Head of Motorsport, Mike Rowe, said: “Volkswagen Motorsport shined at the inaugural Zwartkops Top of the Hill Challenge on Saturday. Jonathan Mogotsi delivered an epic drive, achieving seventh position overall among some of the country’s fastest road and race cars, while our Volkswagen Rookies and their media teammates thoroughly entertained the crowds”.

He elaborated that Mogotsi drove his blue SupaPolo to seventh overall, and sixth in a Modified class filled with thousand horsepower monsters.

“We came here looking to break into the top ten but ended up far further up the order. That’s great testament to our Volkswagen Motorsport SupaPolo up against some wickedly fast cars on this tight and twisty Zwartkops climb. SupaPolo is a giant killer of note,” Jonathan grinned.

The four Volkswagen Rookies, teamed up with four motoring media, were paired up after practice on Friday for the Top of the Hill Challenge. The Rookies raced individually, with Judd Bertholdt, Dhivyen Naidoo and Uzair Khan setting the fastest times.

Bertholdt’s teammate Brendon Staniforth was also the quickest as their team, Maroela Media, took first place, with Cars.co.za duo Dhivyen Naidoo and Jacob Moshokoa second, and team Isolezwe’s Uzair Khan and Fanele Bengu being third.

“We must congratulate Jonathan on a memorable performance today, including Judd and Brendon on their Rookie team win,” Mike Rowe concluded.

“The Zwartkops Top of Hill was a truly fun event; but now we get serious again as Volkswagen Motorsport prepares to come back to Zwartkops for the Extreme Festival finals in two weeks’ time,” the statement released by Public Relations Department of Volkswagen Group Africa and assented by Head of Group Communications, Andile Dlamini, highlighted.
