The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Millionaires Casino Ghana Limited, Miss Sharon Close, has been awarded CEO of the Year (Gaming Industry) at the maiden edition of the Ghana Gaming and Lottery Awards.
According to Syndicated Entertainment Solutions (SES), organisers of the event, the awards seek to develop a framework to identify and monitor ways by which stakeholders could ensure responsible participation in line with applicable laws to meet best international practices.
Millionaires Casino, as a brand, also won the Gaming Operator of the Year Award on the night; these accolades come on the heels of her remarkable achievement and underscore her exceptional leadership and impact on the gaming industry in Ghana.
Under the leadership of Sharon Close, the company has grown into a leading force in the gaming industry; her strategic vision has driven impressive business growth.
Ms. Close has spearheaded various CSR initiatives, such as donating to the Weep Not Child Orphanage. Her commitment to giving back to the community has inspired others within the organisation to engage in social initiatives, reinforcing its brand image and sustainability.
Ms Close’s organisation is the only casino with a training school that periodically trains its staff to contribute positively to their operations and their individual growth.
In her remarks, Ms Close said: “I am elated by the recognition; our success as a team is shaped by the standards we have set and our desire to continuously strive for excellence”. She noted that her commitment to compliance with laws and regulations has solidified Millionaires Casino’s reputation as a trusted organisation in the industry.
Diana Asonaba Dapaah, Deputy Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, said the National Lottery Authority (NLA) and the Gaming Commission have been projecting ethical and responsible betting; as such, the awards would help identify key personalities who have lived by these standards.
The deputy minister commended Syndicated Entertainment Solution (SES) as organisers of the award scheme and assured all stakeholders of her office’s commitment to help eliminate illegal gaming and lottery.
Sammy Awuku, the Director-General of NLA, said the authority would continue to promote responsible gaming and be committed to ensuring fairness in its game as well. He emphasised that while honouring people practising responsible gaming and compliance, this would also expose the activities of persons engaged in illegal operations, which is the authority’s biggest distractors.
