Tɛŋgɛ’s Oath

By V. L. K. DJOKOTO

To the craftsmen and artisans,

may you never labor in vain,

remain valiant until we assemble again.

The Aŋlɔ constitution is within the chessboard,

our movement shall endure should any one of us fall on the sword.

Take a seat within the circle,

all circling square,

under God’s trustworthy sheath of care.

All clans shall come to dine,

excess bread to break,

neatly polished calabashes for the wine,

a glorious convention for the movement’s sake.

Bridging the gap of centuries,

a vision and a burden so divine,

toward priceless memories,

unity in purpose with an edging deadline.

Onward march to our revolution,

grab the tools you can find.

Reconstruct our nation,

from the crux of her foundation.
