The ASA Savings and Loans Limited has said it is committed to contributing to enhance digital education within the communities it operates, on the back of a donation of technology equipment and others to Amrahia ADMA Junior High School.
The donated items, provided by the Adenta Branch of ASA, include a computer set complete with accessories, a high-resolution projector, a projector screen, and 100 ASA-branded exercise books. The company also provided two large waste bins to promote effective waste management in the school.
This support offered, according to the CSR/Sustainability Manager of ASA, Richard Nartey, aims to improve the teaching and learning experience of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) of students, equipping them with essential skills for the digital age.
He said “By equipping schools with the necessary tools, through their corporate social responsibility activities, ASA Savings and Loans is not only investing in the education of individual students but also contributing to the broader goal of deepening a digitally literate society.”
In support of the global efforts to ensure a green and cleaner environment, Nartey who was speaking during the presentation of the items, noted that the company’s choice to add waste bins is meant to help the school to properly manage plastic waste.
Already, he said, ASA is implementing various initiatives throughout this year, demonstrating its proactive role in ensuring economic, social, and environmental sustainability. “These efforts focus on four Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 13 (Climate Action),” he added.
Also, the Area Manager of ASA Savings and Loans for the Madina Area, Eugene Owusu Biney, said the items, which the school was in great need of, are especially targeted to also support the needy students.
He entreated the school authority and the students to maintain the items and put them to good use.
Receiving the items, the Headteacher of Amrahia ADMA Junior High School, Janet Abiba Mahami, expressed gratitude for the support offered noting among others that it will help the school in its STEM delivery.
With a student enrolment of over 500 who are under the care of some 25 teachers, she noted among others that they are constrained by infrastructure challenges.
She was, therefore hopeful that the gesture by ASA Savings and Loans will inspire other benevolent institutions and individuals to also come to the aid of the school.
The donation was also witnessed by the chairman of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of the school, Melchizedek Moses Aduafo.
