In an initiative to improve teaching and learning at the basic school level, ASA Savings and Loans Limited through it Odorkor Branch has presented some infrastructure needs to the Odorkor ‘1’ Kindergarten (KG) and Primary School in the Ablekuma North Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
The team led by the Area Manager of the company, Madam Mercy Adzie, handed over three set of kindergarten roundtable with 24 associated chairs, 20 dual desks and five Veronica buckets for proper hand washing.
In addition, are two (240liters) large waste bins, five pieces of white marker boards, five packs of board markers, two packs of pen as well as100 pieces of branded exercise books.
The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR/Sustainability) Manager of the Company, Richard Nartey said the company is playing its part to help the country achieve the Sustainability Development Goal 3 (SDG 3) – Good health and well-being, and admonished corporate bodies to commit resources towards social investments. We, as a financial institution is not only interested in profits, but also giving back to society.
He disclosed that the company is committed to the United Nation’s’ Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4)-Quality Education, “that is why we are committing resources to improving the infrastructure needs of these deprived schools. I am much delighted today, especially with the donation of Veronica buckets that is going to promote proper hand washing, and the waste bins that is going to ensure proper waste management and segregation in the school, “he added.
The Manager of the Odorkor branch of ASA, Madam Kate Coleman said, the company is committed to alleviating poverty especially among women groups by providing hustle-free loans at affordable and competitive rates.
The Headteacher of the school, Madam Victoria Duodu was thankful to management of the company for coming to the aid of the school. “We have written letters to several companies for our chalk boards to be replaced with white marker boards but to no avail”. These items we have received is going to reduce the challenges we have as an educational institution. She admonished benevolent organizations and individuals to come assist them with ceiling fans in their classrooms as the high rate of enrollment makes the rooms hot most times.
Madam Mariam Mensah, who is the School Improvement Support Officer (SISO) at Ablekuma North Municipal Educational Directorate, was seen with much joy for the support. “This is a great day for us. We are so overwhelmed by this kind gesture you have brought to us today. It is one of the deprived basic school in the Municipality, and this support, will go a long way to improve on teaching and learning in the school.”
Also present at the handing over of items were some representatives from the Parents’ Teachers Association (PTA) of the school.

It was all joy on the faces of the staff at the Mallam Atta Government Clinic when the Newtown branch of ASA presented some essential equipment and sanitary items to the health facility this month.
The team led by the Newtown Area Manager of the company, Mr. Pope Neequaye presented one high speed computer set, one multi-purpose printer, an adult digital weighing scale, two set of stethoscopes, two set of gun thermometers, two digital blood pressure monitors and three packs of large tissue to improve on sanitation at the facility.
Mr. Neequaye added that the company has supported and will continue to support all the public health facilities in the Ayawaso municipalities. “Last year, I led a team from ASA to donate medical supplies to Mamobi Hospital, and today we are here”.
The branch manager for ASA at the Newtown branch, Albert Avemegah said, we have clients who are traders in this market so assisting this facility will mean they are going to receive better healthcare when they visit this facility. This, also forms part of the company’s corporate social responsibility, he added.
The head of administration at the clinic, Madam Rebecca Arkoh, expressed gratitude for the gesture. She indicated that the facility which is seated in the middle of the Mallam Atta market, has frequent visits by patients, particularly the traders and therefore needed this support badly. “We have a labour unit under construction by a benevolent organization, and after completion we will need assistance to stock it with the needed logistics and equipment. Our roof is leaking badly and we need support to get it fixed” she added.
Nora Korkor Kitseh, Head of Nursing and Midwifery at the facility thanked the company on behalf of the staff and urged other benevolent organizations and individuals to emulate what ASA has done and also give back to deprived public health institutions in the country.
