The Africa Financial Industry Summit, AFIS, has unveiled the winners of the 2nd edition of the AFIS Awards. Since 2022, this prestigious award has been honoring five companies, leaders, and governors for their remarkable impact on financial growth in Africa.

An eminent jury, composed of professionals and experts in the sector, meticulously selected one winner in each category from over 30 nominations. This year’s winners once again demonstrate their resilience and dynamism in the development of a robust and inclusive financial industry.



The award ceremony took place during the gala dinner of the Africa Financial Industry Summit 2023, held on Thursday, November 16, in Lomé, Togo. The winners were celebrated in front of an audience composed of high-profile figures from the public and private finance sectors, as well as opinion leaders from across the African continent and internationally.

AFIS Awards 2023

The AFIS Awards 2023 announced the winners of various categories that celebrate the achievements of African fintech innovators. The African Champion award went to United Bank for Africa (UBA), a leading pan-African financial institution that provides banking services to more than 20 million customers across 20 African countries. The Disrupter of the Year award was given to Yellow Card App, a cryptocurrency platform that enables users to buy and sell digital currencies with ease and security. The Woman Leader award was bestowed upon Coura TINE SENE, the Regional Director of UMOA – Wave Digital, a mobile money service that operates in eight West African countries.

La Bourse Régionale des Valeurs Mobilières (BRVM) and EDC Investment Corporation (Ecobank Group) have received awards for the IPO of Orange Côte d’Ivoire.
