Olam Agri, a global leader in agri-commodity and food processing, in collaboration with GROW (Globally Reaching Olam Women) has climaxed the year’s Pink October celebration with a sensitisation programme for the company’s female employees at Aburi Botanical Gardens.

Olam Agri, a global leader in agri-commodity and food processing, in collaboration with GROW (Globally Reaching Olam Women) has climaxed the year’s Pink October celebration with a sensitisation programme for the company’s female employees at Aburi Botanical Gardens.

The programme, which took place on Friday, October 28, aimed to raise awareness about the impact of breast and cervical cancer in Ghana and Africa, and also encourage female employees to check their breasts regularly to help with early detection.

This year’s event featured a series of engaging activities, including an informative health talk with Dr. Kojo Essel and his team from Health Essentials on some diseases affecting the health of most women; and also discussed some preventive measures to help reduce the risk of infection among women.



The programme also provided an opportunity to screen about 120 participants for various other diseases, and offered an excellent platform for female staff from different divisions of the company to engage, network and bond among themselves.

The president of GROW Ghana, Mrs. Christiana Asare, encouraged her colleagues to take the issue of breast and cervical cancer very seriously and ensure they seek medical attention as soon as possible to help save lives.

GROW is a voluntary association of female employees in Olam’s worldwide operations, whose core mission is to increase female engagement and foster inclusiveness within the organisation. The women’s network group was established in 2018 as part of the company’s commitment to providing an environment where females can feel empowered in a society of like-minded individuals.

The association, since its inception, has helped increase female engagement within the organisation through various initiatives: such as mentorship programmes for female employees, community networking and volunteering programmes, donations to various hospitals – including the Cancer Unit at Korle Bu, and other important personal development initiatives such as the Sparkle Your Career programme, which was launched earlier this year to help boost the confidence of female employees to seek growth in their career path.
