Radiance Petroleum is 10yrs

The Radiance Petroleum Limited has celebrated its 10th anniversary, dubbed ‘This Far by Grace’.

The celebration began with a series of activities including Customer Service Week and a visit to an orphanage among others, and was climaxed with a Thanksgiving Service and Dinner at the ICGC Glory Temple, Kasoa.

Radiance was licenced by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) on 9th November, 2012 with three stations at Abesim – Sunyani, Ajumako and Nyanyano. Its provisional licence was confirmed in November 2013.

Since then, it has gone on to acquire other licences – like a Bunkering licence, Lubricant Blending licence and Mining Support Services licence. Currently, it has 37 outlets and a staff of over 230 people.

The Managing Director, Mr Emmanuel Pobee, said like every successful business, Radiance’s journey has not been without its difficult paths.

However, he said, what helped the company through the difficult paths and made it stronger and a shining example among competitors was its resolve to grow through its turbid experiences, by focusing on its vision and never compromising its values.

“Along the journey, we were blessed to have against the odds turned some lemons which were thrown at us into lemonade; and in the process this helped us to enrich our operational processes. Today’s milestone marks both an end and a new beginning. We say goodbye to a glorious decade of slow and steady growth with great learning, and usher ourselves into a new decade that builds on the growth, learning and achievements of the past,” he said.

Mr. Emmanuel Pobee added: “What we know for certain is that the new decade will be entirely different from the one just ended. Changes in regulatory frameworks, changes to Deregulation policy, advancement in the LPG cylinder re-circulation programme, advancement in Energy transitioning, and changes in the technological and financial landscape may change the face of the industry. Cognisant of this, Radiance has positioned itself well to stay ahead of the curve. We will continue to be prudent in our judgment – not misjudge to grow faster ahead of ourselves, but be steady in our growth strategies. For it is well said that ‘Slow and steady wins the race’.”

He continued: “It is said that Consistency is Key to Success – and Tony Robbins even puts it better: ‘It is not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives, it is what we do consistently’. Our stakeholders’ interests will continue to be at the centre of operational/managerial decisions: complying with regulatory standards and industry best practices, being fiscally disciplined, giving customers value for money, being a good corporate citizen, and having our associates at the heart of our everyday decisions is what we will continue to do consistently”.

The Deputy Managing Director (DMD) for Radiance Petroleum Limited, Mr. Joseph Addae, also said 10 years of operating the company has not been easy – counting dealing with the challenges of the financial sector, COVID-19 outbreak and the recent Russia-Ukraine war. Notwithstanding, he said the Lord has been good to the company.

Speaking on behalf of Mr. Kwaku Agyemang-Duah – Industry Coordinator of the Petroleum Downstream Industry, a Business and Strategy Analyst at the Association of Oil Marketing Company (AOMC), Mr. Alfred Addo-Yobo, also commended Radiance Petroleum Limited for its contributions in the industry.

“Since its establishment in the petroleum downstream industry a decade ago, Radiance Petroleum has contributed millions of cedis monthly in taxes and levies to government; and as well, their zero compromise on safety makes them a force to be reckoned with in the industry,” he said.

Mr. Alfred Addo-Yobo added: “Their core objective has always been to make sure that when we visit any of their stations for fuel purchases, we can conduct our business safely and conveniently. Radiance Petroleum has shown resilience against harsh tides in the industry, despite the local currency’s depreciation which has led to many companies collapsing or being placed on ventilators. This cannot be magic but rather sound business principles by the hardworking management under direction from the board of directors”.

He further said: “You may be interested to know that at the height of COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Radiance Petroleum under the leadership of Emmanuel Pobee collaborated with the AOMC to engage with the Ghana Revenue Authority, which resulted in an extension of the tax payment period from 25 days to 45 days. This was crucial in preserving many businesses during the period, as many would have collapsed without this support”.
